| Description: | The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault is a feminist organization and is the state-wide coalition of sexual violence programs. Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors, their loved ones and significant others, foster collaborative relationships between community systems, and affect attitudinal and behavioral changes in society as we work toward the elimination of sexual violence against all people. We are a not- for profit, 501(c) (3) organization. NJCASA?s Prevention programs apply the research and tools of public health science to reduce the epidemic of violence. These include: - focus on reducing the risk that violence will be perpetrated - give people the skills to take responsibility as by-standers, before violence occurs - increase awareness of how media fosters attitudes and expectations that encourage or condone violence - Evaluate programs to ensure measurable results in reducing violence General duties: A Prevention & Evaluation Intern would report to the Director of Prevention and Evaluation. Duties would include: - Assist with coordinating NJCASA?s Prevention Coordinator?s workgroup meetings and State Prevention Team Bystander/Gender Equity workgroup meetings - Assist with Prevention training institute workshops - Research best practice tools on prevention and emerging practices on prevention & evaluation of sexual violence - Research and create catalogue of media clips to support sexual violence specific media literacy curriculum - Facilitate collection and analysis of evaluation data for prevention of sexual violence Preferred Qualifications: - Graduate student in public health /community health/ social work - Interest in the field of violence against women and sexual violence - Excellent written, oral and organizational skills - Strong research skills - Familiarity with concepts on primary prevention and evaluation methods Other internship details: - Flexible part-time schedules are available - All internships are unpaid The office of New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault is located in the Trenton area. |
