| Description: | Class Action is a small but inspiring national non-profit that raises awareness of the harm caused by classism (prejudice based on social class). We put out a vision of a world without classism, where everyone is treated with respect and everyone has enough. Our program work includes popular education workshops, first-generation student support groups, publications, Classism Exposed blog, and a website. We are connected with a bigger national non-profit, the Institute for Policy Studies. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION Class Action recently published a new high-school curriculum on class and classism, Created Equal. The Youth Education Marketing Intern will solicit feedback from pilot users of "Created Equal" curriculum and assist co-authors with revisions; and market Created Equal curriculum to schools and youth programs via e-blasts, mailings, correspondence, staffing literature tables at conferences and soliciting web links and newsletter listings. Motivated student could attend or learn to lead youth workshops. Internship requirements: Outgoing, friendly to strangers, persuasive, with some experience in organizing, marketing, sales or other persuasive communications. Experience using social media Preference given to students working towards Education degrees or with youth empowerment or secondary-school teaching experience. Passion for social and economic justice. When? Any 10 to 12 weeks of spring semester 2013; Flexible hours from 8 to 16 hours a week, totaling 120+ hours. Continuation into summer is an option. Where? The Brewery, 30 Germania St, Jamaica Plain - a lively non-profit center in Boston. Some work may be done offsite at location of intern's convenience.
