|Description:||Class Action is a small but inspiring national non-profit that raises awareness of the harm caused by classism (prejudice based on social class). We put out a vision of a world without classism, where everyone is treated with respect and everyone has enough. Our program work includes popular education workshops, first-generation student support groups, publications, Classism Exposed blog, and a website. We are connected with a bigger national non-profit, the Institute for Policy Studies.
Learn the most marketable of all nonprofit job skills that can get you in the door out of college: fundraising and administration.
Fundraising duties include updating the constituent database, processing donation acknowledgements, and conducting prospect research. Some writing may be required as well.
Administrative duties include photocopying materials, processing literature orders, managing flow of office supplies, and assisting in keeping the office well-organized.
Detail oriented, methodical and focused
General office experience
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required, experience with the following softare is a plus, but not required:
QuickBooks, WordPress, Salsa database
Passion for social and economic justice
When? Any 10 to 12 weeks of fall semester 2012; Flexible hours from 8 to 16 hours a week, totaling 120+ hours. Renewal for summer is also an option.
Where? The Brewery, 30 Germania St, Jamaica Plain - a lively non-profit center in Boston. Some work may be done offsite at location of intern's convenience.

Transportation costs reimbursed. Wages available for students with Federal Work-Study awards. Otherwise, interns committing 150+ hours total, whose schools are not providing funding or course credit, may apply for a modest stipend, based on need, to help defray expenses.
