The Position

The National Women?s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a Director of Online Communications to lead and develop comprehensive online strategies to promote and enhance NWLC's advocacy, visibility and impact. The Director of Online Communications will take the lead in developing and guiding a multi-year online strategy for NWLC's presence across all online channels. The ideal candidate will possess experience in developing and implementing successful online campaigns and in managing staff at nonprofit organizations.

Position Responsibilities

The Director of Online Communications will bring a broad understanding of online communications, marketing, organizing, and fundraising to advance NWLC goals. The Director is responsible for setting the organization?s overall online strategies, growing the number of online supporters and engaging them in advocacy, developing and executing the online fundraising strategy, and directing the organization?s online efforts across social media, email and website platforms.

The Director will develop and implement consistent measurement and evaluation strategies to monitor the impact of NWLC's online efforts. S/he will supervise the management of NWLC's electronic Constituent Relationship Management (eCRM) system, direct the website and ensure it is updated regularly, find creative ways to improve NWLC's use of email communications, continue the growth of NWLC?s online social media (Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest), stay current about emerging online strategies, incorporate new technologies as appropriate, ensure that online and offline outreach strategies work well together, and train NWLC staff in online tools and tactics. The Director will ensure that all online strategies support, and are consistent with, NWLC's overall communications strategies, messaging and branding.

The Director will report to the Vice President of Communications, manage a two-person online team and coordinate closely with a four-person outreach team that has significant online responsibilities.

Qualifications

-8+ years of experience in online communications, including in a leadership capacity, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications programs for issue/advocacy/campaigning organizations and a record of strategic thinking and creating new ways to campaign and communicate online.
-Experience working on advocacy campaigns and/or in grassroots/campaigning organizations strongly preferred.
-Experience with e-CRMs (such as Convio, NationBuilder, or Salsa).
-Knowledge about production elements of the web such as HTML, Drupal (or similar content management systems), Salesforce (or similar databases) and Photoshop.
-Experience overseeing online outreach via Facebook, Twitter and other social media tools.
-Experience with Search Engine Optimization.
-Experience managing online analytics.
-Management experience.
-Experience overseeing online fundraising and advertising campaigns.
-A thoughtful, analytical approach to managing complex tasks.
-The ability to work well with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and manage workflow processes involving multiple people.
-Experience working both collaboratively and independently and the ability to make quick decisions and exercise sound judgment.
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
-A commitment to progressive women's issues.
-A Bachelor?s degree.
