| Description: | Compensation: $48,000-$60,000 Benefits: Healthcare (Vision, Dental, and Health Insurance), Retirement Savings Program, Smart Benefits, and Cell Phone Reimbursement Location: Washington, DC Position Description: The Development Associate will plan, manage, and execute a development program to assist the Executive Director, and leaders throughout our organization, to meet our annual operating and programmatic budgets. The Development Associate will report to and work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer. Responsibilities: The Development Associate is a new position of leadership for our organization. This person will have the opportunity to implement and manage many aspects of the organization's development plan, which include: - Support development activities by writing proposals and reports, researching prospects, and entering and tracking data. - Manage weekly development activities for Board Members, the Executive Director, and Department Coordinators. - Implement strategies which open doors to new, diversified streams of revenue from foundations, individual donors, and progressive organizations. - Work with the communications department to develop a comprehensive array of written materials which support development efforts. Qualifications: A successful candidate for the Development Associate position will have a comprehensive understanding of our mission, share our progressive values, and demonstrate a proven track record of success. In addition, our organization seeks the following qualifications: - Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to compose, edit, and format materials quickly - Collaborative approach to problem solving and leadership - Entrepreneurial spirit when networking and interacting with prospective new foundations, individual donors, and progressive organizations. - Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite. - Understand and share our organization?s commitment to the progressive community as it relates to the democratization of resources, development of data and technology infrastructure, free and open source election administration information, and civic engagement organizing and training, particularly in the emerging majority communities. Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience which supported a Development Director, Executive Director, or similar position, to fundraise for a non-profit organization or campaign. - Salesforce and/or Quickbooks experience.
