Job Title: Advocacy & Outreach Team Leader Intern
Organization: Planned Parenthood of Illinois

Description: The Planned Parenthood of Illinois Public Policy Department works to ensure that we have laws and policies in Illinois that support meaningful access to reproductive health care and comprehensive education for all. We rely on our supporters to make their voices heard and show support for these policies. Our Summer Outreach Teams play an important role in building public support for pro-choice, pro-family planning policies in our state.

Advocacy & Outreach Teams will spend the summer going door-to-door, making phone calls, and crowd canvassing to identify supporters and empower them to stand up for reproductive justice. Team members will collect petition signatures and circulate educational materials to the public. Advocacy & Outreach Team Leaders will be responsible for working with Public Policy staff to plan events and activities for each week and coordinate Team Member schedules to ensure that all events are attended. Team Leaders will work to create canvass walk-lists and track and report on information.

Internship highlights:
Learn critical Community Organizing skills - Learn how to plan for, organize, and conduct a door-to-door canvass - Lead a team of interns for the summer -coordinate schedules and track outcomes and goals

-Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission -Interest in the field of public policy / campaign work -Excellent organizational skills -Ability to engage with people in a diverse range of settings -High level of comfort discussing reproductive rights issues in a variety of settings -Access to transportation and a willingness to travel -Commitment of 15 hours per week for the summer

Hours

Hours are flexible and will depend on current events and outreach opportunities. Interns will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, and traveling to various events, as well as reaching outreach targets and goals.
