| Description: | The Public Policy Department works to ensure that we have laws and policies in Illinois that support meaningful access to reproductive health care and comprehensive education for all. We rely on our supporters to make their voices heard and show support for these policies. Summer Outreach Team members will play an important role in building public support for pro-choice, pro-family planning policies in our state. Advocacy & Outreach Team members will work as a group to educate and recruit thousands of Illinois residents to show their support for reproductive justice issues. Interns will spend the summer going door-to-door, making phone calls, and crowd canvassing to identify supporters and empower them to stand up for reproductive justice. Team members will collect petition signatures and circulate educational materials to the public. Team members will not solicit donations. Internship highlights: ?Learn critical Community Organizing skills ?Learn how to plan for, organize, and conduct a door-to-door canvass ?Recruit supporters at summer events -interns will work in teams and pick their own beat, like concerts, festivals etc. What We Ask -Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission -Interest in the field of public policy / campaign work -Ability to engage with people in a diverse range of settings -High level of comfort discussing reproductive rights issues in a variety of settings -Access to transportation and a willingness to travel -Commitment of 15 -20 hours per week for the summer Locations Outreach Teams are being formed in the following communities: -Chicago -Chicago suburbs Hours Hours are flexible and will depend on current events and outreach opportunities. Interns will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, and traveling to various events, as well as reaching outreach targets and goals.
