Job Title: Legislative Archivist Intern
Organization: Planned Parenthood of Illinois

Description: Planned Parenthood of Illinois? legislative affairs program lobbies the Illinois General Assembly and other government officials who make public policy affecting Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care. This includes drafting, reading and researching legislation, meeting with state legislators and other government officials to educate them and urge them to support PP positions, producing position papers and other materials on legislation and other public policy issues, and working with other programs in the Public Policy Department.

The Legislative Archivist Intern will work with the Director of Legislative Affairs to organize and create an electronic archive of past Planned Parenthood legislative issues. The Policy and Education Department needs to have its legislative files organized for easy reference. The intern will be responsible for organizing legislative files and ensuring all records are complete. The interns will also scan documents to create a database of all materials.

What We Ask

-Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission -Interest or experience in political science / public policy -General knowledge of the legislative process -Excellent oral and written skills -General computer knowledge (Word, Access, Excel) -Commitment of at least 10 -15 hours per week for the summer

Hours

Hours are flexible, with shifts available Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
