| Description: | What We Offer The Planned Parenthood of Illinois Finance department works to ensure that all services provided are properly documented and billed to be in compliance with State and Federal regulations, and to ensure we bring in revenue in order to carry out our mission. The Medicaid Billing Intern?s project will be to compare the productivity and effectiveness of rebilling claims by reviewing Illinois Medicaid remittance vouchers manually versus electronically through the NextGen Practice Management system. The intern will do productivity measurements to determine the effectiveness of each method overall, whether some rejections are better handled by one method or the other, and find areas that would benefit from improvement. The intern will study their productivity over the course of their internship, in order to help develop productivity benchmarks for employees. The intern will also get the billing department up-to-date with any outstanding claims. Additionally, the intern will assist with refunds to our Medicaid payer, and ensure that all credits are applied to allow for proper refunding to patients. Internship highlights: -Hands on experience with the NextGen Practice Management system, medical software developed by one of Forbes 25 fastest-growing technology companies in 2012, and used by thousands of medical practices. -Gain an understanding of Illinois Medicaid rules and regulations -Learn the functions of a Medical billing office, and how it relates to the health center -Visit a health center to see how patient visits translate to medical codes What We Ask -Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission -Interest and / or experience in accounting or financial administration -Superior organizational and analytical skills -Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel -Commitment of 10 -15 hours per week for the summer Location PPIL Administrative Offices 18 S.
