| Description: | What We Offer Planned Parenthood has been working in the state of Illinois to provide reproductive health care services since 1923. The organization has a rich history of working within communities across the state and is currently working to better document and preserve that history. The Photo Archivist Intern position is focused on archiving and identifying Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) photos in a digital database to make photos accessible to staff. The intern will be responsible for collecting, categorizing and logging photos according to the organizational system in the Microsoft Access database. The intern will also have the opportunity to supervise volunteers who assist with scanning the photographs. Internship highlights: ?Develop an understanding of the history of reproductive rights in the State of Illinois. ?Collect, categorize, and log photographs according to the organizational system in the Microsoft Access database or develop an updated organizational system ?Label photos and develop user-friendly search queries in the Microsoft Access database What We Ask -Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission -Interest and / or experience in archival science, library science, history -Proficiency in Microsoft Access -Enjoys archival work and working with photos -Superior organizational skills and attention to detail -Commitment of 10-12 hours per week for the summer Location PPIL Administrative Offices 18 S.
