Our products are handmade by women?s cooperatives and artisan groups in developing countries that pay fair wages and provide safe working conditions. We produce two collections a year, which are sold in over 400 shops and boutiques around the country. Our designs mix old-fashioned processes such as hand loom weaving and hand block printing with fashion-forward silhouettes and contemporary color palettes. Mata?s mission is to bring fair trade to the forefront of the fashion industry and in turn, empower women to end global poverty. We are seeking a Marketing Associate to join our tight-knit and collaborative staff and grow with the organization. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to a growing business with a social mission. The ideal candidate will be organized and detailed-oriented, have impeccable writing and communication skills and plenty of creativity. The candidate must be proficient with social media. Basic graphic design skills and an artistic eye are also required. The Marketing Associate supports the Marketing Director in all aspects of the company's marketing, promotions, advertising, media and public relations activities. Responsibilities - Provide creative and strategic input into the company's marketing and branding strategy - Create content for blog posts with a focus on fashion and styling - Collaborate on website design, language, and user interface - Contribute to the ongoing development and production of email marketing - Assist in the planning and execution of social media engagement for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. - Coordinate the editing and upload of videos on YouTube - Participate in the planning and execution of paid advertising initiatives for Google Adwords, Facebook, web and print - Style products for catalogs and promotional photos - Coordinate naming and descriptions of clothing and jewelry styles for catalog and social media - Collaborate on concept, design, and writing of marketing materials including catalogs, brochures, product tags, etc - Assist in PR and SEO efforts - Help monitor, report, and analyze marketing data - Represent the company at trade shows, retail sales, and fair trade events as necessary; this includes travel outside of Chicago at least twice a year and working some weekends Qualifications and Skills - Background and/or interest in fashion and styling - Gifted communicator, both written and verbal - Proficiency in image editing/layout design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator - Proven skills and talent in basic graphic design - Interest in and knowledge of fair trade - Experience with new media, social networking/blogging, and online marketing; print marketing a plus - Marketing and/or sales experience preferred - Video editing experience and basic html knowledge a plus - Team player and experienced collaborator - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously The projected start date for this position is April/May.
