The national Development Department raises approximately $70 million annually in private support from major donors, foundations, and more than 500,000 members. Reporting to the Associate Director of Special Gifts, the Annual Fund Officer will manage direct marketing programs aimed at mid-level donors and planned giving prospects; implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities and programs; and manage the organization's participation in workplace giving campaigns. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage direct marketing program aimed at retaining and upgrading mid-level ($250-$9,999) donors, including but not limited to creation of production schedules, trafficking copy and art, ensuring quality and accuracy of data, interacting with external vendors, managing project expenses, and providing regular results and metrics. Manage direct marketing efforts to engage and secure intentions from gift planning donors. In coordination with Individual Giving Officer, implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship program for Crystal Eastman Leadership Society (CELS), the ACLU's mid-level donor recognition society. Responsibilities include but are not limited to welcome series, renewal and upgrade efforts, donor recognition program, cultivation and stewardship efforts, and creation and distribution of all CELS collateral materials for affiliate offices. Provide support to external production team creating ACLU's new magazine, including but not limited to trafficking art and copy, ensuring timely delivery of as well as quality and accuracy of donor lists and data, and managing expenses. Manage Special Gifts donor acknowledgement program to ensure that acknowledgements are not only accurate and timely, but that they advance the donor cultivation/stewardship cycle. Serve as liaison with Stewardship Officers in Planned Giving and Leadership Gifts departments as well as affiliate offices and Donor Communications to ensure that all stewardship efforts for Special Gifts donors are coordinated, complimentary and cost efficient. Create Special Gifts donor lifecycle program to chart donor movement through program and, track the overall ACLU donor experience to ensure that donors are receiving communications that reflect a variety of messages, topics and techniques as well as an array of cultivation and solicitation. Propose packaging, messaging and timing changes in order to most effectively steward and raise income from donors. Manage all direct marketing project budgets, track related invoices and expenses, and create centralized system of tracking all departmental expenses. Assist with annual budgeting. Ensure that all Special Gifts donor information is properly recorded in shared nationwide database. Serve as liaison to Development Database & Operations team. Manage ACLUF participation in workplace giving campaigns, including overseeing acknowledgement process, ensuring that applications are completed in a timely manner and are in compliance with all ACLUF rules and requirements, and increasing ACLUF visibility and revenue received through these campaigns. Assist the Special Gifts department with other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, or a related field Minimum of 4 years of fundraising and/or marketing experience in a non-profit environment, ideally at an organization with complexity and scale comparable to the ACLU. Experience managing day-to-day responsibilities of direct marketing campaigns. Experience with high-touch direct marketing and/or planned giving a plus. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects; superior attention to detail with strong follow through. Initiative, self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and writing skills.
