Job Title: Public Health and Corporate Social Investment Internship

GBCHealth, formerly the Global Business on AIDS, TB and Malaria, was established in 2001 by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Ambassador Richard Holbrooke to mobilize the business community to address the world's most pressing global health challenges.

Internship Description:
This highly competitive internship will span six months and begins in June, extending through mid- December. On a case-by-case basis, we may also consider full-time candidates for June-August.
Two interns will be selected. Both should have some knowledge, experience, and interest in one or all the following areas: HIV and AIDS, TB, Malaria, Maternal Child Health, Reproductive Health and Non-Communicable Disease. One intern will be specifically charged with supporting the Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA) and should have some background in malaria.

This internship program offers a hands-on, substantive experience which will help member corporations to drive a sustainability agenda around global health. The internships are offered by the GBCHealth Content Team, the hub of global health expertise that takes the lead in driving public health content, resources and guidance within the organization and among GBCHealth's 200+ members.

This is a dynamic team whose role it is to advise members about the best business approaches to fighting health that yields impact for both the company's bottom line and for global health outcomes. We provide strategic guidance to GBCHealth members on workplace and community programs; develop industry and regional
(geographical) strategies for corporate action; identify and broker partnerships (business-to- business as well as public-private partnerships; and convene members at regional and global events.

GBCHealth is committed to the professional development of its highly-qualified intern cohorts, and offers training opportunities on a monthly basis such as 101 seminars on key health topics, trainings on effective public speaking and presentations, etc. Additionally, GBCHealth staff provide networking opportunities and recommendations for successful interns.

Responsibilities:
The Public Health and Corporate Social Investment Interns will support both operation and content development of the membership team including but not limited

?Research and develop case studies, issue briefs, website content and newsletters; ?Help organize webinars on cutting-edge global health topics featuring prominent leaders in the field and across industries; ?Help keep GBCHealth staff and member companies abreast of new developments in the global health field by organizing brown bag lunches, 101 seminars for staff, and disseminating relevant articles and findings; ?Assist with database management to keep track of GBCHealth offerings to member accounts; ?Represent GBCHealth at relevant local global health events.

The CAMA Intern will also be responsible for the
following:
?Provide support for GBCHealth's 2013 Malaria workshops in Sub-Saharan Africa, including agenda development, speaker research, logistics and report writing; ?Serve as rapporteur for CAMA meetings and conference calls, draft articles for CAMA newsletters and GBCHealth website on malaria- related business action, maintain the CAMA and GBCHealth Salesforce databases; ?Research and identify prospective member companies to participate in CAMA.

Qualifications:
?MPH, MPA and/or MBA graduate students, or candidates with an undergraduate degree in public health; ?Professional, academic, internship or volunteer experience in public health and/or corporate social responsibility; ?Excellent writing, communication and research skills suitable for varied audiences (corporate, NGO and academia); ?Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment; ?Strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, ability to multi-task and to take initiative in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; ?Proficiency in Microsoft Office including a working knowledge of database management; ?Familiarity with social media (Facebook, twitter,
etc.)
?Available full-time during the summer (9am- 6pm).
On a case-by-case basis, part time interns (>20
hours/week) may be considered during September- December.

Compensation:
?This internship is unpaid; however, we do offer a stipend to offset transportation costs: $100/week for full time interns, $50/week for part-time interns (<30 hours/week); ?Upon successful completion of the internship, a recommendation letter and networking opportunities.
