Job Title: HIV Research Nurse (RN)

Fenway also administers The Fenway Institute, the nation's leading center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender research and evaluation, training and education and policy and advocacy. The Fenway Institute conducts a wide range of studies on such topics as HIV risk reduction and prevention, drug treatment trials efficacy, substance abuse recovery and hepatitis transmission. The following position is available at the Institute within Fenway Health:

Research Nurse [Job ID #404]

The Research Nurse provides direct patient care and works in association with other research staff in implementing clinical trials according to study protocols.

Typical duties include: recruiting and screening study volunteers; conducting behavioral interviews with study participants; conducting pre- and post-test HIV counseling and educational sessions; educating potential volunteers with respect to the clinical studies and obtaining informed consent; performing specified clinical care using established protocols (such care may include phlebotomy, administering injections, obtaining cultures, conducting physical exams, administering oral; and providing assistance and oversight to staff performing clinical procedures.

Additional duties include: developing protocol specific documents; participating in Quality Assurance activities; documenting study activity and responding to data queries; maintaining drug accountability and other records; and maintaining an up-to-date understanding of new and current HIV standards of care and research.

Requirements:
? Bachelor of Science preferred
? Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
? At least one-year clinical experience in related health delivery model
? Current CPR certification preferred
? Clinical research experience highly desirable
? Excellent physical assessment skills, and a working knowledge of HIV pathophysiology, prevention, and treatment
? Phlebotomy experience highly desirable
? Strong attention to detail skills
? Ability to function autonomously in a collaborative team
? Familiarity working with both men and women at risk for HIV infection
? Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
? Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
