General Position Overview The Program Manager will be an energetic and experienced self-starter! This person will provide program management for Genetic Alliance initiatives and partnerships, primarily focusing on work in the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) division. The MCH work of Genetic Alliance is quickly growing. The Program Manager will be interested in expanding the visibility and impact of this portfolio of work and will be called upon for their ability to focus on existing deliverables while establishing new innovative directions for emerging programs. The MCH work of Genetic Alliance provides families with the right information at the right time. This is done through both project based work as well as partnerships with other key organizations. A key program in this area is the Clearinghouse of Newborn Screening Information, housed at Baby's First Test (www.BabysFristTest.org). This public health resource has presence via online partnerships, social media networks, and through grassroots efforts. Specific tasks related to this position include but are not limited to the following: ? Work closely with the Program Director to implement the vision of this division. ? Provide day-to-day oversight for grant activities, including reporting and budget tracking. ? Manage subcontractors and partners to meet a defined timeline. ? Coordinate messages and communications to partners including newsletters and social media postings. ? Serve as point of contact for many project partners. ? Attend, exhibit, and present at professional meetings. ? Write manuscripts, craft abstract submissions, and work on posters and presentations. ? Collaborate with an evaluator to track and assess impact of activities. ? Research and stay current on issues related to maternal and child health, specifically prenatal screening/diagnosis, newborn screening, perinatal screening and testing, etc. To be successful, the Program Manager will understand how individual projects complement each other and lead to an impactful portfolio of work. S/he will quickly grasp objectives of ongoing projects and work to maximize productivity of program staff. QUALIFICATIONS ? Program Manager Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree with 4+ years relevant work experience or Graduate degree (focusing on health, communication, or other relevant area) with 2+ years relevant work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 4 Takes initiative and plays an active role in projects. 4 Thrives in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. 4 Experience in working with range of stakeholders including federal/funding partners; recognize the importance of understanding multiple viewpoints. 4 Ability to work independently, then bring ideas and products to larger team. 4 Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience writing for different audiences. 4 Solid communication skills, both interpersonally and to broader groups. 4 Interest in marketing/ program development. 4 Detail oriented, flexible and able to handle multiple deadlines. 4 Transitions efficiently between different projects including detail-oriented tasks to broader program planning. 4 Ability to connect specific goals of activities to broader themes of program. 4 Ability to adjust projects mid-course, due to new information and reprioritization. 4 Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred: 4 Experience coordinating meetings, teleconferences, and electronic forums. 4 Familiarity updating website content in Drupal, Wordpress, or similar systems ? no coding knowledge needed. 4 Familiarity with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and blogging for information dissemination and project-based work. 4 Familiarity with online survey, scheduling, and collaboration platforms, such as Zoomerang, SurveyMonkey, Doodle, and Google Docs How to Apply: Interested and enthusiastic applicants should send a resume, cover letter, two writing samples, references, and salary history |
