Job Title: Policy or Legal intern (summer and starting immediately)
Organization: National Network to End Domestic Violence
Region: DC Metro Region
Description: NNEDV Public Policy Interns participate in every level of the federal legislative process and work at the national level to end domestic violence. Public Policy interns work as partners in the Public Policy team, and are given substantive duties including:
? Monitoring and analyzing legislation
? Participating in lobby visits and strategy sessions with NNEDV staff and coalition partners
? Developing materials to inform Members of Congress and state domestic violence coalitions about critical issues
? Helping to write Congressional testimony and draft legislation
? Participating in grassroots organizing efforts
? Attending Congressional hearings, briefings and press conferences

Qualifications
The Public Policy team requires applicants to demonstrate an interest in learning about the national public policy-making process. Interest in economic justice issues, housing, or the federal budget a plus. Interested applicants must demonstrate:
? The ability to work independently in a fast-paced office, under tight deadlines;
? A commitment to ending domestic violence;
? Understanding of and commitment to diversity issues;
? Excellent written and oral communications skills;
? A good sense of humor; and
? Experience working with victims of domestic violence or on state or federal policy a plus.
