Job Title: Leadership Gifts Coordinator [DEVF-19]

Description: The Development Department of the National office in New York City is seeking a full-time Leadership Gifts Coordinator.

OVERVIEW

The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty.
Combining litigation with public education, media outreach, advocacy, and lobbying, the ACLU works at the local, state, and federal levels to effect change in the courts and legislatures, as well as in the court of public opinion. The national office of the ACLU has approximately
330 employees. Including affiliates, the organization has approximately 1,000 employees.
The national Development Department raises approximately $70 million annually in private support from major donors, foundations, and more than 500,000 members.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of a sophisticated and growing Leadership Gifts program who reports to the Deputy Director of Leadership Gifts, the Leadership Gifts Coordinator provides fundraising support to the Associate Directors of Leadership Gifts in their fundraising activity for leadership gifts level donors ($25,000+). In addition, s/he manages all aspects of coordination for the Leadership Gifts unit. The coordinator will:

? Maintain general knowledge of the key
donors and prospects in the Associate Directors'
portfolios.
? Create and update electronic donor and
prospect records in the development database.
? Draft professional donor correspondence as
directed; compose, edit, and proofread donor communications.
? Assist in the preparation of briefing
papers, proposals, reports, and talking points.
? Remain informed about, and providing,
updates to donors on relevant news and activities.
? Conduct research related to our plans for
donors and prospects.
? Run and analyze reports.
? Provide support for cultivation,
solicitation, and stewardship activities.
? Prepare materials for Associate Directors'
travel.
? Manage staff travel calendars, and assist
in the coordination of travel plans.
? Process gifts.
? Serve as first point of contact for
Leadership Gifts unit; handle internal and
external calls, mail and e-mail.
? Oversee unit correspondence, develop and
maintain mailing lists, create professional donor packages, and manage production processes.
? Coordinate, maintain and update unit and
departmental business rules, protocols and procedures.
? Process, track, and report unit expense
budget; coordinate reimbursement and expense approval process.
? Generate, manage, update, and distribute
reports.
? Work proactively with other units to keep
Leadership Gifts unit reports up to date; generate and review hygiene reports, as well as analyze and utilize information to update records in a donor database.
? Schedule and organize departmental
meetings; compile agendas. Undertake special projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

? Bachelor's degree required.
? A minimum of two years' experience in a
fast paced fundraising or nonprofit setting, preferred.
? Excellent verbal and written communication
skills, with proven experience and excellence in drafting professional content for external communications.
? Excellent interpersonal skills and the
ability to represent the organization to donors as well as interface with all levels of staff and volunteers while maintaining tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
? Self-starter with strong organizational
skills and strong attention to detail.
? Ability to multi-task, prioritize and
complete assignments under strict deadlines.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word,
Excel, Power Point, Outlook and internet usage.
Experience with fundraising databases and Business Objects preferred.
? Commitment to the mission of the ACLU.

COMPENSATION

The ACLU offers a generous and comprehensive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience and within parameters of the ACLU compensation scale.
