| Description: | Moriviv? Residential Program is a 51 bed scattered site safe dwelling that is seeking a full time Counselor/Advocate. The goal of this program is to provide short term shelter for battered women and their children. The Counselor/Advocate will work with each participant to create an individualized action plan that addresses their individual needs and ensures they secure permanent housing. Supportive services include: counseling, support groups, case management, children's services, referrals for educational/vocational facilities, job preparation and health promotion for women and children. The Counselor/Advocate will work closely with the Program Manager and staff to ensure smooth program operation. Responsibilities will include but are not limited Perform telephone screening to identify potential participants. Assist in the transportation of client(s); pick-up and/or relocation as needed. Conduct initial needs assessments on all clients and their children to identify needs and goals; and develop a service plan. Re-evaluate as necessary. This includes intake assessment. Address the clients emotional needs, provide crisis counseling as needed and promote self- esteem/motivation. Assist with compliance monitoring activities by monitoring curfew compliance and adherence to program regulations. Document in the log and inform Program Manager of non-compliance. Identify and provide referrals to outside therapeutic services as necessary. Provide personal support for the families including but not limited to translation and accompaniment services. Provide information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment as it relates to public assistance, housing, school/education placement, health, etc. to secure needed services. Provide advocacy and accompaniment to clients throughout the legal, immigration, social and human resources systems, etc, incl. food shopping. These include over the phone, in person and via written correspondence in a timely manner. Maintain proper documentation (record keeping, reports and statistical information) on a timely manner for all clients. Develop service plans with measurable outcomes and services as identified by the program and funding source in a timely fashion. Provide complete and accurate information about client outcomes and services in a timely manner. Requirements: BSW or BA required, MSW preferred Fully Bilingual Required (English/Spanish ? verbal and written). Must have a minimum of three (3) years counseling experience in the area of domestic violence, women and children issues, or related field. Ability to assist in moving clients in/out of VIP safe dwelling (Shelter), incl. heavy lifting (30 lbs.) and travel via public transportation (bus, train, etc.) Must be knowledgeable in working with diverse communities, particularly Latino, people of color, and low income population and deliver culturally competent services. Strong verbal, written, communication and documenting skills. Must be well organized, assertive, work independently and collectively, while maintaining a flexible schedule. Incl. on-call schedule to respond to emergencies, nights and weekends. Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database. Must be able to exercise good judgment and sensitivity at all times. Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
