We are seeking a Gas Meterman SCD to join the staff at our Newark, DE location. Required ? Completion of apprenticeship or certification as a journeyman in plumbing, pipefitting, electrical, or instrument trade; OR Minimum of two years experience in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation construction and maintenance work satisfactory to the Company. Knowledge of basic electricity required. ? High school diploma or equivalent acceptable to the Company. ? Must have successfully completed a minimum of two courses in electricity and/or instrumentation satisfactory to the Company at an accredited vocational/technical school. ? Must have proper temperament for meeting the public and dealing with customers. ? Must be able to work overtime as required. ? Must be able to work from a ladder, scaffolding or other elevated equipment. ? Must have or be qualified to obtain promptly the required vehicle operator?s license. ? Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test ? Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check. ? Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with PHI's Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees. Physical Effort required: ? Strenuous, reaching, heavy lifting, walking, stooping, bending, carrying, pulling and climbing. ? Employees in this job classification are required to comply fully with the Federal Department of Transportation Gas Pipeline Regulations. Must be able ? Operate meter testing and calibrating equipment. ? Read electric and gas metering devices, record and gather data and install or replace security devices, individually in the field, as required. ? Operate instruments and equipment utilized for the detection of gas leaks, and make minor field adjustments to correct individually in the field, as required. ? Work as required regarding painting of meters, material and equipment. ? Direct the work of others assisting him/her; assist other personnel in the completion of their duties. ? Operate valves, controls and meter reading equipment associated with Gas measurement equipment. ? Operate trucks, vehicles, and other related equipment to the job. ? Perform necessary clerical work incidental to the job. ? Communicate effectively with the public in the best interest of the Company. ? Perform other related or less-skilled work as required or directed. ? Required to take necessary training for advancement.
