| Description: | Reports to the Associate Director in the Center for Women's Global Leadership (CWGL). Coordinates and assists in the development and implementation of CWGL's programming and policy issue work pertaining to violence against women (VAW) as a core priority area of the Center's strategic framework. Also, the intersection of VAW and militarism in its various forms will be a major component of the work. Manages and plans the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign. Assists associate director and other staff in supporting initiatives with United Nations entities and other NGOs. Organizes, administers, and coordinates multiple facets of the Center's programs and projects with the planning, preparation, and evaluation. Drafts qualitative and quantitative reports and provides analysis and interpretation of data for current and future programming initiatives. Works with students. Assists in the evaluation of program effectiveness and prepares appropriate recommendations. Serves as liaison with various public and private institutions and agencies to determine special program requirements, modifications, or innovations. Provides research support activities to develop the campaign theme and broader VAW perspectives. Performs related duties as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree with preference for a master's degree in a field related to women's rights or social justice (Women's and Gender Studies, Political Science, History, International Relations. Peace and conflict etc.) and a minimum of 2 years employment experience in rights-based or social justice work, international experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English required, and a second language preferred. Skill in balancing project priorities and time management are essential. This position requires domestic and some international travel. Fluency in a language in addition to English (preferably French or Spanish); electronic communications skills in web maintenance, listserves, knowledge and abilities in research and analysis and report preparation. This position maintains regular communication with a global network of partners and advocates addressing the issues of violence against women in their respective communities and regions. The position requires knowledge of and sensitivity to other cultures and practices, and conditions "on the ground" in various locales. Applicants must be legally permitted to work in the United States and NJ. |
