| Description: | PROGRAM ASSOCIATE (EXEC-12) American Civil Liberties Union Executive Department, NY The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), with more than 500,000 members, was founded in 1920 and is a nationwide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the principles of liberty and equality embodied in the U.S. Constitution. The Executive Department of the ACLU's National Office in New York City invites applications for the full-time position of Program Associate. OVERVIEW The Program Associate will report to the Manager of Board Relations with whom s/he will oversee office management and support the Office of the Deputy Executive Director, the Board of Directors and the Office of the In-House General Counsel. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Prepare various confidential reports and documents including conducting original research and -compiling/reformatting materials. -Assist in the development and maintenance of National Board related portions of the Loop. Collaborate with the staff of the Executive Department on the annual budgeting process; liaise with the Accounting Department to process and reconcile payments and reimbursements. -Create and edit visual presentations (charts, graphics) as needed. -Liaise with outside organizations for special collaborative engagements, as well as more general requests for information. -Coordinate meetings and events - including scheduling and preparing meeting materials for board committees, donor meetings, affiliate events, workshops, special staff projects, etc. -Undertake special projects and provide back-up assistance in the General Counsel's office. -Draft, edit, produce, and distribute correspondence and public documents on behalf of the Deputy Executive Director. Maintain related files. -Receive and screen communications to the Deputy Executive Director, including telephone calls, mail, and e-mail messages. -Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS -Bachelor's degree required. -A minimum of three years relevant experience preferred. -Demonstrated experience supporting senior level staff strongly preferred. -Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. -Experience with the creation and maintenance of websites, including layout and posting of content is preferred. -Demonstrated initiative, analytical and research skills and creativity. -Ability to work independently as well as within a team. -Outstanding organizational and time management skills. -High level of interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal. -Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner. -Ability to travel required. -Strong commitment to civil liberties and human rights. COMPENSATION The ACLU offers a generous and comprehensive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and within parameters of the ACLU compensation scale.
