Our internships are a unique opportunity to gain valuable organizing and non-profit experience. This is a hands-on program, designed to mentor and cultivate students interested in social justice, strengthen their understanding of a fast-paced campaign organization, and prepare them with the skills and experience necessary to challenge corporate abuse.This is a skills-building internship in which interns will take on significant projects to advance Corporate Accountability International's mission, including the Think Outside the Bottle and Public Water Works! campaigns to challenge corporate control of water, the Value [the] Meal campaign to challenge corporate abuse of our food, and the Campaign to Challenge Big Tobacco. The projects will be coupled with training sessions on action planning, campaign research, media outreach, fundraising, and many other topics. The Membership Outreach Intern will work with our team of fundraisers and membership outreach staff as they organize and engage our members across the country in support of our campaigns. The intern will also help build and refine our list of current and potential major donors to support Corporate Accountability International's campaigns. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: -Communicate with members and respond to member information requests; -Lead and track efforts to cultivate members and develop their understanding of our campaigns; -Support administrative systems, including updating member records and organizing member data; -Conduct philanthropic and prospect research; -Help design and coordinate special mailings to members; -Conduct media research and assist in the creation of face to face fundraising materials; -Participate in campaign and organizational building activities. QUALIFICATIONS: -Demonstrated commitment to corporate accountability and progressive social change; -Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially on the phone; -Good organizational skills, attention to detail, professional demeanor and the ability to juggle several tasks while meeting deadlines; -Experience or interest in organizing or fundraising; -Research experience or knowledge of Lexis-Nexis and other research tools is a plus. DETAILS: Location: Boston, MA Duration and Hours: -Fall: September to December, 2013. A minimum commitment of 15-20 hours /week with occasional additional hours for events is required. Days are flexible depending on student schedule and internship manager needs Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, however, a transportation stipend of $150 will be provided and students may receive course credit for their internship. Training: Classroom sessions and ongoing trainings will be provided by senior campaign staff.
