Job Title: Sales Associate/Customer Service Manager

Description: Mata Traders is a fair trade fashion company based in Chicago, IL. Our products are handmade by women's cooperatives and artisan groups in developing countries that pay fair wages and provide safe working conditions. We produce two collections a year, which are sold in over 400 shops and boutiques around the country. Our designs mix old-fashioned processes-such as hand loom weaving and hand block printing-with fashion-forward silhouettes and contemporary color palettes. Mata's mission is to bring fair trade to the forefront of the fashion industry-and in turn, empower women to end global poverty.

We are seeking a Sales Associate/Customer Service Manager to join our tight-knit and collaborative staff and grow with the organization. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to a growing business with a social mission. The ideal candidate will be organized, pay close attention to detail, have impeccable writing and communication, and be a skilled problem solver. The candidate must be confident and goal-oriented. Sales and data management experience is strongly preferred. The Sales Associate/Customer Service Manager supports the Business Director in all aspects of the company's customer service and business development and manages the Order Fulfillment Coordinator and associated staff.

Responsibilities

-Oversee communication with wholesale and consignment customers and respond via email/phone to all customer service inquiries, ensuring the highest customer satisfaction
-Provide input on company sales strategy as key member of sales team
-Develop and manage new customer acquisition efforts
-Conduct sales outreach by phone and email to customer leads
-Maintain accuracy and completeness of sales database, produce mailing lists, update store locator on website
-Manage staff on all duties related to order fulfillment and database entry
-Oversee preparation of warehouse for receiving collections
-Manage high-volume order fulfillment sessions around seasonal ship dates
-Facilitate sending samples and exclusives to big buyers each season
-Handle trade show logistics
-Attend trade shows as a sales representative, including travel outside of Chicago at least twice a year
-Coordinate product information on website
-Manage and analyze affiliate sales partnerships

Qualifications and Skills

-Proven skills and talent in customer relations and/or sales
-Experience in database management
-Gifted communicator, both written and verbal
-Proficiency in current accounting and sales software
-Management experience preferred
-Interest in and knowledge of fair trade
-Self-motivated team player and experienced collaborator
-Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
