Job Title: Director, Professional Coaching
Organization: Leadership for Educational Equity Job
Region: Southeast
Description: The Director of Professional Coaching will coach and support individual LEE members who are seriously considering advocacy, organizing and policy leadership. This person will deeply get to know 200-300 LEE members, and based on their career interests, create customized development plans that include access to trainings, fellowships, experiences and networks that will enable them to secure policy, advocacy and organizing pipeline and leadership jobs and become effective in these positions. Our goal is to have more than 250 policy, advocacy, and organizing leaders and several hundred pipeline leaders in place by 2015. To be successful, s/he will collaborate with LEE?s Advocacy and Organizing Team, the Policy Leadership Team, the Leadership Trainings and Initiatives Team, and the Field Engagement Team as well as with regional Teach For America staff. This position reports to the Director of Sourcing.

Responsibilities:
-Member Support, Coaching, and Tracking
-Deeply get to know our policy, advocacy and organizing entry- and mid-level pipeline leaders (200-300 individuals). Understand their specific career goals and plans so we can work with them to achieve their path toward leadership. This work would include but is not limited
-Coach the member to develop an individualized leadership development plan. The plan will:
-In partnership with the Leadership Trainings and Initiatives team, the Advocacy and Organizing team, and the Policy team build the member?s policy/advocacy/organizing experience and skills by connecting him/her with appropriate level of LEE or partner programming,
-In partnership with the Field Engagement team and the Advocacy and Organizing team, strengthen the member?s local and regional networks. This may involve exploring ways for the member to interact with other LEE members, identify policy, organizing and advocacy organizations to join and lead, and identify and if appropriate introduce the member to key influential community leaders who can help the member build his/her policy expertise;
-Be proficient with career tools and resources (e.g. resume and interview) for LEE members interested in these tracks;
-Work with the Leadership Trainings and Initiatives team to create a peer-to-peer mentoring/coaching program for LEE members to help each other with resume, interviewing and networking skills and/or efficacy as a policy, advocacy or organizing leader; Create, plan, and execute networking opportunities for LEE members

Skills and Experience:
-Bachelor?s Degree required;
-Five plus years of experience working in an advocacy, organizing or policy roles;
-Experience coaching others and playing a role in their long-term leadership and talent development; ability to create and maintain scalable systems to manage 200+ relationships
-Proven ability to build and leverage relationships with diverse audiences and partners;
-Experience cultivating internal and external constituencies;
-Demonstrated ability to identify and appropriately respond to motivations and barriers of target audiences to achieve specific outcomes and/or advance thinking;
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
-Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize time, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changeable environments;
-Superior attention to detail and demonstrated success in managing and operating data systems;
-Some travel required; ability to work flexible hours with occasional weekends and evenings.
