| Description: | The National Women's Law Center is seeking a college or master's graduate with excellent quantitative, research, and communications skills and relevant experience for a one-year paid public policy fellowship starting September 2013 in its Family Economic Security and Education and Employment programs. The Organization For 40 years, the National Women's Law Center (NWLC) has expanded possibilities for women and girls in the United States. NWLC protects and advances the progress of women and girls at work, in school, and in virtually every aspect of their lives. NWLC takes on the issues that cut to the core of women's and girls' lives in family economic security, education, employment, and health, with special priority given to the needs of low-income women and their families. Job Description The fellow will work on a variety of issues, which may include: -Tax and budget policy -Child care -Income support -Retirement security -Education reform -Equal education and employment opportunity -Barriers for low-wage workers Responsibilities include: -Gathering, summarizing, and analyzing research and data from a variety of sources -Using spreadsheets and other programs to analyze quantitative data to examine changes over time and the effects of policy proposals -Drafting fact sheets, reports and other written materials -Writing blog posts and other communications -Attending and reporting on congressional hearings and other briefings -Working with national and state-based coalitions Qualifications -Bachelor's degree and at least one year's post-college experience working in a research, advocacy, or policymaking environment OR a master's degree in public policy, economics or other social sciences program required. -Must have strong quantitative research skills and facility working with spreadsheets. -Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. -Must be detail-oriented and able to handle several tasks at once. -Experience with statistical analysis and related software such as SPSS a plus.
