Job Title: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, MAJOR GIFTS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

Description: The Associate Director of Development works under the direction of the Vice President of Development and Partnerships to conduct major gift and special event program activities, and general development department activities. The ideal candidate is a goal oriented, collaborative professional with a good sense of humor who seeks to advance our shared priorities and goals.

The position is described below.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, cultivate and solicit a defined regional major donor portfolio. Activities pertaining to the portfolio include:
- Development of revenue plan for region
- Cultivation and solicitation meetings
- Management of regional events
- Personalized correspondence
- Contribute to the fundraising programs strategic planning process and annual plan preparation.
- Partner with the Vice President of Development and Partnerships to develop and implement key fundraising strategies for events and oversee regional annual signature events, receptions and house parties.
- Create targeted donor proposals in coordination with other members of the Development Department and other departments when necessary.
- Responsible for building major donor solicitation and acknowledgement strategies for the President, the Vice President of Development and Partnerships, members of the Boards of Directors, and other senior staff members, as appropriate.
- Partner with the Vice President of Development and Partnerships to implement donor recognition and cultivation programs, including work with the Leadership Councils and Board.
- Strategically oversee trip management, current and lapsed donor outreach (phone calls, letters, emails, etc.), and the facilitation of donor requests for materials and information.
- Develop and manage prospect research plan to engage new donors in region.
- Supervise Major Gifts Associate in managing portfolios and implementing strategies.
- Participate in weekly check-ins and regular strategy meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- College degree required;
- Minimum four years of supervisory experience required;
- Six+ years of relevant major gifts experience;
- Experience in planning and executing fundraising events;
- Experience soliciting and closing five figure gifts;
- Experience working with volunteer leadership;
- Fundraising database experience required;
- Political fundraising experience preferred;
- Deep attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills required;
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast paced environment;
- Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce and sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences is required.
- Clear understanding of, and commitment to, NARAL's mission and goals.
