National Hotlines

Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotlines (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country. The hotlines have helped more than 1.4 million people since 1994. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. Sexual Assault Training & Investigations (SATI)
SATI provides victim-centered, multi-disciplinary training and expert consultation regarding crimes of sexual assault.

Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services (CONNSACS)
CONNSACS serves as a national clearinghouse for information and resources for victims of sexual assault, as well as a statewide resource for residents of Connecticut. Counseling and information are available from their toll-free hotline at 1-888-999-5545.

Domestic Violence Fact Sheet
A brief listing of facts on domestic violence from the Feminist Majority Foundation and other reliable sources, this resource is great for debates and campus event teach-ins on violence against women.

The Comforter Network
The Comforter Network has been formed to increase public awareness about the reality of sexual abuse and to make comforters to be donated to shelters which help survivors of sexual abuse.

Communities Against Violence Network (CAVNET)
CAVNET is a comprehensive, searchable database for information about violence against women. They have articles on everything from welfare reform and domestic violence to violence against immigrant women to Rohypnol, the "date rape drug" to legal information and statistics.

Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Inc. (CONNSACS)
This site serves as a statewide network of individual sexual assault crisis centers and provides access to programs working to end sexual violence through victim assistance, community education, and public policy advocacy.

National Clearinghouse on Marital and Date Rape
This organization of consultants, researchers, speakers, and resources for legal and medical advocates, writers, the media, students, and concerned campus and community members provides research and accepts data and information on marital and date rape. The site also provides numerous links and online resources regarding sexual assault and domestic violence.

RAINN , founded by singer-songwriter Tori Amos, operates the nation's only toll-free hotline for survivors of sexual assault. The hotline is operated 24 hours a day, and routes each call instantaneously to the rape crisis center nearest the caller.
