Form an Action Team to Help Afghan Women
Petition
Drive
Throughout our Campaign
to Stop Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan, the Feminist Majority Foundation
has used petition drives to increase public awareness about the
plight of women and girls in Afghanistan and to demonstrate to policy
makers support for the restoration of women's rights in Afghanistan,
for increased humanitarian aid, especially to Afghan women and children,
and for having Afghan women play a leadership role in the rebuilding
of the country.
Petitions are returned
to the Feminist Majority Foundation so that they can be delivered
to the State Department and White House along with thousands of
other petitions from across the nation.
Our Campaign has generated
over 200,000 petitions and tens of thousands of faxes and e-mails
to the Department of State. Clinton Administration State
Department officials told us that they had received more mail on
the issue of Afghanistan than any other foreign policy issue.
Never before has it
been more important to convey the strength of public support for
Afghan women and girls. Action teams can circulate petitions during
concerts, women's sporting events, campus tabling, and school assemblies,
among other places and events.
