Secretary of the Interior

George W. Bush's nominee for Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton is an anti-affirmative action candidate with an anti-environmental protection record.

Gale Norton was a supporter of the anti-gay Amendment 2 in Colorado, and was on the staff of the Mountain States Legal Foundation (MSLF), founded by right-wing funder Joseph Coors. MSLF Foundation has taken on cases that are anti-affirmative action and anti-environmental protection. Norton, former Attorney General for the State of Colorado, has a record of opposition to gay and lesbian rights, and openly opposed affirmative action programs in Colorado universities.

Norton's nomination must pass through the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources before the entire Senate votes to confirm or deny her appointment.
