Feminist Majority Foundation Events

Empowering Women, Ending Violence, Ensuring Reproductive Rights (Summer)
Every year, FMF interns organize a Captial Hill Briefing and Congressional Visit day for interns in the Washignton, DC area. This year the briefing will focus on the Women's Treaty (CEDAW), International Family Planning, Domestic Family Planning (Prevention First Act), and the International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA). Attendees will attend a briefing session where they can dicsuss and be educated about these issues and are then encouraged to speak with their Congressional representatives.

Global Women’s Rights Awards (Spring)
The Global Women's Rights Awards are given annually to a select few individuals who have contributed significantly - often against great odds and at great personal risk - to advance the rights of women and girls and to increase awareness of the injustices women face on account of their gender. This year's Eleanor Roosevelt Award honorees are Yolette Jeanty, Renee Montagne, Sunita Viswanath, and Aung San Suu Kyi.

Western Regional Feminist Campus Leadership Conference (Fall)
The Western Regional Feminist Campus Leadership Conference will bring feminists from campuses throughout the Western United States together to discuss women’s rights and equality issues, and to formulate a plan of action! We’ll address feminist topics including exposing fake clinics, Afghan women’s rights, rape kit backlogs, femicide, anti-choice extremism, marriage equality, health care reform, immigration, global reproductive rights, birth control access and much more!  

Women in Policing Conference (Fall)
The 2008 Women in Policing Conference was focused on The Leadership and Workplace Issues for Women in Law Enforcement. The conference was framed around the latest research on women and pregnancy; what departments need to do to be more progressive in this area; police officer domestic violence and the response; dual professions; job share-does it work; and what is mass career customization and why aren't police departments doing more of it. Topics also addressed best practices and the conference produced a report highlighting specific recommendations.

Women of Color Conference (Fall)
The Women of Color Conference is an annual fall conference sponsored by FMF’s the Choices Campus Campaign. The 3rd Annual Women of Color Conference will bring together feminist, activist leaders in communities of color around the country to develop strategies and wield influence to affect real sociopolitical change. These student leaders will learn about various social justice issues, be provided with a space for women of color and allies to come together, and strategize for action as part of a larger movement for justice and equality.

The conference focuses on advocacy and activism to create political change through interactive dialogue, going beyond awareness-raising and empowerment. Topics addressed include global reproductive rights and health, education, media, environmental justice, health care reform, grassroots organizing, reproductive justice, violence against women, the economy, and equality.

National Young Women’s Leadership Conference (Spring)
The National Young Women’s Leadership conference is an annual spring conference for campus activists, many affiliated with FMF’s Choices Campus Campaign. It focuses on the impact young women have when it comes to domestic and global issues. Young feminist activists from around the nation gather to discuss some of today's most pressing issues including reproductive rights, the environment, LGBTQ rights, violence against women, communities of color, war, and the economy. Recent conference speakers included Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, Lilly Ledbetter, Dr. Sima Samar, Dolores Huerta, Eleanor Smeal, Shelby Knox, and Representatives Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Carolyn Maloney, and Eleanor Holmes Norton.
