Special Evening of Entertainment
On April 1, a sold-out audience gathered for a night
of feminist entertainment that included
"The Vagina Monologues," comedic performances, and music by
Dar Williams.
| The audience laughed, cheered, and cried with Eve
Ensler (right) in a performance of her Obie Award-winning
one woman show "The Vagina Monologues." Ensler's
monologues explored women's feelings about their bodies and their
sexualities, and addressed issues like body image, sexual orientation,
and rape. Her performance touched the audience and prompted a standing
ovation. |

Next, the audience welcomed actress and activist Kathy Najimy
to the stage. After performing a monologue from her acclaimed off-broadway
show "The Kathy and Mo Show," Najimy emceed side-splitting
performances performances that proved feminists have a sense of humor
by comedians Hellura Lyle, Marga Gomez (left),
Rene Hicks, and FMF board member Carol Ann Leif. |
Singer-songwriter Dar Williams wrapped up the evening with
a special musical performance as many audience members sang
along. Williams performed some of her most popular and most feminist
tunes, including "As Cool As I Am" and "When I Was
a Boy." |
