Media: We inform the world! Feminist news is written and posted on a daily basis and sent out weekly in a digest. This project is great because you always have something fun to do and you're always informed on feminist news.
Web: The biggest project of the semester is creating the fabulous website you are now exploring. This is the best project to work on becasue yo u literally get to facebook, tweet, blog, and design all day long. It's a great way to apply your interests to a totally new aspect of non-profit, advocacy, and outreach work (aka stuffing 1,000 invitations and emailing the entire FMF mailing list.)
Campus:Help organize the Women of Color Conference at Spellman College in Atlanta; assist with preparations for the Women, Money, and Power Summit (aka stuffing 1,000 invitations and emailing the entire FMF mailing list.) and collect research on campus progams around the country.
Global: Research on the use of funding for global health programs. It's a great program to work on if you want to get to know and understand the inner workings of international non-profits and programs. Specific issues addressed through this project are the maternal health of Afghan women and girls, access to clean water, and rights for women around the globe.
Political:Compile profiles on women running for office; prepare for the Women, Money, and Power Summit by organizing the volunteers and working on Summit outreach (aka stuffing 1,000 invitations and emailing the entire FMF mailing list.)
NCWP/NCAP: A big project this semester was helping organize the Human Trafficking Conference, which was in relation to FMF's National Center for Women in Policing.
Education Equity: Attend events and meetings from local organizations focused on education, including one on the female orgasm; collect data and research about single-sex schools and education
All: it was all-hands-on-deck this semester with every intern blogging and tweeting, attending events, and helping with conference/summit preparation (aka stuffing 1,000 invitations and emailing the entire FMF mailing list.) We also got to engage in fascinating lunchtime conversation with the fabulous Ellie Smeal on a daily basis. Don't be jealous, apply today!
