FMF Hosts Women of Color Conference at Spelman College

Over three hundred women of color and their allies gathered at the Third Annual Women of Color Conference at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia on October 9 and 10. Hosted by the Feminist Majority Foundation with co-sponsorship by the Spelman Women's Research and Resource Center, the Spelman Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, Bennett College for Women, and the NYU Women of Color Policy Network, the conference brought together activists from fifteen states to discuss feminist issues and strategize for social justice.

The conference held sessions and workshops on heath insurance reform, reproductive rights and justice, human trafficking, environmental justice, global women's rights, immigration, and LGBTQI rights. The presence of local leading activists, including Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Loretta Ross, Alice Lovelace, Mia Mingus, Nancy Boothe, Stephanie Davis, and Dazon Dixon Diallo, highlighted Atlanta's extraordinary feminist community. Attendees engaged in discussions with Feminist Majority Foundation president Eleanor Smeal.
