WHY: For over 30 years, Eleanor Smeal has been on the frontlines fighting for women’s equality, and she has been at the forefront of almost every major women’s rights victory. Now, with reproductive rights facing unprecedented threats, Smeal and the Feminist Majority are working with other women’s rights organizations to amass the most significant abortion rights march in over a decade. The March for Women’s Lives, taking place April 25, 2004 in Washington, D.C., will be a public demonstration of historic size in support of reproductive freedom for all women.
On Saturday, April 24th, Feminist Majority will kick-off the weekend’s activities with a reception celebrating the March for Women’s Lives with women leaders such as C. DeLores Tucker, Gloria Steinem, and Senator Barbara Boxer, who have been instrumental in the fight for reproductive rights. Join us as we celebrate our Freedom Fighters and the upcoming March for Women’s Lives.
