Monday, July 11, 2005
10:30am Eastern LIVE on C-SPAN 3
With repeats all week on C-SPAN channels.

Ms. magazine is hosting a Journalist Forum at the National Press Club to discuss how changes in the court could endanger not just abortion rights but four decades of women's access to contraceptives and other critical women's rights.

C-SPAN3 will carry our Ms. Community Forum beginning at 10:30am eastern. Then, it will repeat on the other C-SPAN channels.

The forum will feature:
Ellen Chesler, historian and author, Woman of Valor: Margaret Sanger and the Birth Control Movement in America; Senior Fellow, Open Society Institute

Judith M. DeSarno, president and CEO, National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association

Jocelyn Frye, Director of Legal and Public Policy, National Partnership for Women and Families, focusing on a new report that poses key questions women need answered by the next nominee to US Supreme Court

Dolores Huerta, co-founder and first vice president emeritus of the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO; leader of Civil Rights movement

Eleanor Smeal, president, Feminist Majority Foundation; testified on behalf of Sandra Day O'Connor before Senate Judiciary Committee in 1981 as NOW president

Frank Susman, reproductive rights attorney; argued Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, the 1989 U.S. Supreme Court case that threatened legal abortion rights.

Read the Urgent Report released in the current issue of Ms. Magazine, which analyzes what's at stake for women if one more conservative Justice is named to the Supreme Court.
