National and Local Actions Feminists Can Take to Make Our Belief in Women's Rights Count.

Expo '96

Be sure to register for the Feminist Majority Foundation’s Expo ’96 for Women’s Empowerment and participate in the future of feminism! If you would like registration forms or information on forming a delegation, please call (703) 522-2214.

Congressional Action

1. Call or write to your members of Congress and tell them "No Retreat on Affirmative Action!" Affirmative Action has benefitted every woman and minority in America, as well as every white man who depends on the salary of a woman family member.

2. Let your members of Congress know that you oppose cuts in Medicare and Medicaid. Cuts in these vital programs are cruel, and will further impoverish not only poor women and children, but also middle class Americans who depend on nursing homes, Medicaid and Medicare for basic health services.

Addresses: U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, DC 20515; or U.S. Senate, Washington, DC 20510. Or dial (202) 225-3121 and ask to be transferred to your members of Congress.

White House Action

Ask Clinton to veto the welfare bill, which ends guaranteed aid to the poorest Americans and which contains no requirement that states spend any money on poor people. White House phone number: (202) 456-1111. Address: President Clinton, The White House, Washington, DC 20500.
