Earmark United Way Donations for Feminism
If you donate to the United Way you can earmark all or part of your donation for the Feminist Majority Foundation. Although the Feminist Majority Foundation may not be listed on your local United Way pledge form, you can specify that you would like to designate your gift to the Feminist Majority Foundation by filling out the Specific Agency part of the pledge form, or by contacting your local representative for a donor option card. In order to do this you must write in our full name and address. For this purpose, please use 8105 W. Third St., Los Angeles, CA 90048.

In addition, a growing number of employers have matching gift programs. Ask your company for the form so you can ‘double’ your gift to the Feminist Majority Foundation. For more information call Abbe Land at (213) 651-0495.

Vote
Exercise your right to vote this November 5, and make sure your friends, family and colleagues do the same. Volunteer to get people to the polls on election day. Make sure you know how the candidates stand on women’s issues.

Affirmative Action
California feminists must vote NO on Proposition 209 to save affirmative action for women and minorities and to keep sex discrimination laws strong. Affirmative Action has benefitted women and minorities in America in education, employment, and public contracting.

Afghan Women
Afghan women are prisoners in their homes as a result of the government takeover by Taliban, a militant fundamentalist Islamic group. Write to or call the following people and ask them to 1) use all possible means to restore women’s human rights to work, education, and safety in Afghanistan; 2) refuse to recognize Taliban as the legitimate government in Afghanistan; and 3) uphold the Platform for Action of the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women that calls for respecting and protecting women’s human rights.
