Center for
Reproductive Rights
The Center for Reproductive Rights is a non-profit legal
and policy advocacy organization dedicated to promoting
women's reproductive rights. Their site contains frequently
updated information on the Center's legal campaigns to improve
access to reproductive health care throughout the world,
as well as many publications on reproductive health technologies
and issues- a great site for research.
Family Health International
Family Health International works to "improve reproductive and
family health around the world through biomedical and social science
research, innovative health service delivery interventions, training
and information programs." Their site has information on reproductive
health issues including HIV/AIDS, abortion, and family planning.
Fundación
Mexicana para la Planificación Familiar (MEXFAM)
A member of IPPF, this organization provides medical and educational
services in family planning, reproductive health and options, and sexual
education. This site offers information about these topics as well as
information about the organization.
Global Reproductive
Health Forum
Based at the Harvard School of Public Health, this site is a tool for
students, researchers, and activitists interested in preserving women's
right to reproductive health. Main topics of the Web site include: gender,
biology and technology, reproductive rights, HIV/AIDS, emerging reproductive
technologies, and biomedical information pertaining to reproductive
health
International Planned
Parenthood Federation
This site features weekly news reports, IPPF's monthly Medical Bulletin,
and contact information for regional IPPF affiliates around the world.
Also find related links, highlights from the IPPF 1996-7 Annual Report,
and IPPF's strategic plan in English, French and Spanish.
Ipas
This non-profit agency works to "improve women's lives by focusing
on reproductive health." The site is available in Spanish, Portuguese,
and English, and contains information on many methods of abortion, with
a focus on women's empowerment and reducing unsafe abortion procedures.
Population Council
The Population Council is an international non-profit that works to
"improve the wellbeing and reproductive health of current and future
generations and to help achieve a humane, equitable, and sustainable
balance between people and resources." Their site contains general
information on reproductive rights and technologies globally, as well
as research on abortion access and procedures around the world.
ProChoix
A French organization that advocates reproductive rights, ProChoix provides
resources, articles, and take action information on this French-language
website.
United Nations Population Fund
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is "the
largest international source of population assistance."
They channel money to countries needing assistance in its
three main program areas: Reproductive Health including
Family Planning and Sexual Health, Population and Development
Strategies and Advocacy. Their site has up-to-date research
on reproductive health technologies and their availability
throughout the world.
US Committee for the
UN Population Fund
This well-designed website offers information not only on
global reproductive rights but specifically on the United
States' role and committment to international family planning,
reproductive rights, gender equality and the empowerment
of women in developing nations through education, advocacy
and fundraising.
Women
of the World
This valuable site contains a heavily hyperlinked document from the
Center for Reproductive Law & Policy that reviews the status of "women's
reproductive freedom" in the United States, China, India, Germany, Brazil,
and Nigeria. It is a bit difficult to maneuver around the site, as the
"menu" items are small sections of a small graphic. However, the information
is well-footnoted, presented in a statistical/factual format.
World Health Organization
Although not specifically geared towards abortion rights, this site
is exceptional in its breadth of information on reproductive health
and policy. Its search engine is also useful and contains much information
on international abortion rights.
